bART Alumnus Wins National Composition Competition

Barthelmes Conservatory alumnus Anthony Conroy has won first prize in the Young Artist division of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) national composition competition. As a conservatory student (cello instruction with Krassi Figg and composition instruction with Dr. Noam Faingold), Anthony had won first prize in the state and regional MTNA competitions. Anthony will perform his winning piece, “Only the Weak Get Burnt Out,” a duo for violin and cello, with violinist Josiah Baker at the national MTNA conference in Orlando, Florida on March 20th, 2018. Conroy is currently a composition and engineering double major at The University of Oklahoma.
