We thank our donors, supporters, and Board of Directors for recognizing music’s “triumphant power” and applaud each of them for passionately preserving it.

Tchaikovsky wrote, “Music is not illusion, but revelation. Its triumphant power resides in the fact that it reveals to us beauties we find nowhere else.” The BART’s kindred spirit, the great, Russian composer understood why we are drawn intrinsically to music’s profound effect on all living things. Music’s sound in the air, persistent melodies, rhythms, notes, compositions, and passionate musicians excite, confound, move, and please all of us. So strong and clear are music’s messages on cognitive and sensory levels, we seek unwaveringly to preserve these “beauties” and hold on to what we love.

The BART’s supporters are music lovers–parents, schools, individuals, community members and organizations, businesses, and those who plan to support music far into the future with their legacies. The BART’s gifts are our student musicians, distinguished faculty, and financial supporters. We thank our donors, supporters, and Board of Directors for recognizing music’s “triumphant power” and applaud each of them for passionately preserving it.

  • Education data on more that 25,000 secondary students reveals that students who report consistent high levels of involvement in instrumental music over the middle and high school years show “significantly higher levels of mathematics proficiency by grade 12.”
