Joseph Arndt

Theory and Musicianship

Joseph Arndt came to Tulsa in June 2015 to become full-time Organist/Choirmaster at Saint John’s Episcopal Church. He is Adjunct Professor of Harpsichord at the Brisch Center for Historical Performance at the University of Central Oklahoma, Sub Dean of the Tulsa Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and serves on the Board of Directors of Chamber Music Tulsa.

He received a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School in 2009 and a Bachelor of Music degree from Westminster Choir College in 2007. An advocate for new music, he his featured on Juilliard composition professor Jonathan Dawe’s latest album, Piercing are the Darts. He has received prizes in several national organ competitions, and he has performed organ recitals at venues including St. Patrick’s Cathedral (NYC), St. Bartholomew’s Church (NYC), St. Mary the Virgin (NYC), Princeton University Chapel, and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival (Charleston, SC).

He greatly enjoys sharing his passion for music with BART students. Of his teaching style, he says, “I encourage students to be critical listeners and I like to give them the tools to answer their own questions. I want them to discover that studying theory and harmony will greatly enrich their instrumental playing or singing.”
